10 Great New York City Bridal Shops Beyond Kleinfeld and Bergdorf

View as Map

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Shopping options in New York City are pretty much endless across all categories, including — and perhaps especially — when it comes to shopping for a wedding dress. Even if brides-to-be may not want to admit it, the dress really can feel like the linchpin of the entire wedding process, which is why the shopping experience often ranges from stressful but heartwarming to stressful and arduous. (Champagne helps, by the way.)

Brides both local and visiting already know about the big-name options, from department store salons to the flagships of top bridal designers like Vera Wang and Monique Lhuillier (not to mention that one store that's got a long-running TV show about saying yes to a dress). But there are a few intimate specialty spots that really should be on every bride-to-be's list.

We've put together a map of ten boutiques and showrooms to check out when searching for the perfect dress and organized them from north to south below. Bonus: Most come a bit closer to the realm of "budget-friendly."
