Everyone knows Washington, D.C. as a destination for incredible monuments, world-class museums, and pure proximity to power. But beyond the tried and true tourist destinations, exciting things are happening for D.C. as a city. Our food scene keeps soaring, and people are finally acknowledging Washington for our fashion sense, thanks to folks like Olivia Pope, Claire Underwood, and Selina Meyer.
OK, so they are all fictional television characters, but the point still stands. Fashion brands have realized D.C. is a fantastic market, to the extent that developers are finishing up CityCenterDC, a high-end, mixed-use development right in downtown D.C. that's meant to echo Rodeo Drive. While that comes into shape over the next year, we've listed ten stylish, local D.C. boutiques and markets that are so much fun to shop.
Find new designer shoes at Relish and Hu's Shoes, explore vintage treasures at Goodwood, and feel like a local at Union Market's epic home goods store Salt & Sundry. See all 10 shopping recommendations for your D.C. visit after the jump.—By Racked D.C.'s Adele Chapin
