Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

While there are hundreds of stores in New York City catering wholeheartedly to one gender, there aren't nearly as many that stock a proportionate amount of both men's and women's merchandise. Leaving out department stores and focusing only on Manhattan (Brooklyn, we'll get you next time), we've rounded up thirteen stores that are great for a coed shopping trip—whether you're with your significant other or best friend of the opposite gender.

We also excluded standards like J.Crew and Gap, because isn't it time your boyfriend stepped out of his comfort zone?
