Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Getting a bikini wax can be a little scary, but picking the salon shouldn't be. Now that we're all older and wiser, we've learned that you shouldn't ever have this intimate procedure done in the back room of a nail salon.

After the jump, we've rounded up eight salons that offer clean, professional hair removal of your nether regions, from basic bikini line shape-ups to full-on Brazilians. Did we leave off your favorite? Leave it in the comments below.—Reporting by Cady Lang

Here at this Upper East Side spa, a basic brazilian bikini wax starts at $75, making it one of the pricier waxes in Manhattan. But it's well worth your money to be treated by one of their skilled, professional aestheticians. [Photo]
Maxwax believes that "waxing is too personal (and too painful!) an endeavor to subject you to an inexperienced waxing technician," so you'll always get an expertly trained technician. If you can't make it to the UES, they also have a location on the Upper West. [Photo]

Uni K Wax Center

Uni K Wax is perfect for those looking to take it all off while keeping the procedure all natural, as they use their own special herbal blend wax. Prices for a full bikini go up to $47, and Brazilians go up to $45. [Photo]

Completely Bare Spa

Completely Bare largely deals in laser hair removal, but they also include a "no hair left behind" bikini wax treatment. The flagship is located on Fifth Avenue, and there are also outposts on Bond Street and Madison Avenue. [Photo]

Eve Salon

This West Village spa, a veteran of the neighborhood for almost 25 years, offers quick and painless waxing at one of the most reasonable prices in the city. Bikinis start at $24, and the "Gourmet" option (a "formula with essential oils") is $53. [Photo]

Haven Spa

This Soho spa doesn't just cater to your waxing needs—they offer post-waxing services as well. Look no further than the "Peach Smoothie," a "vagacial" that eliminates ingrown hairs and clears pores after a waxing. [Photo]

Bliss Spa

Bliss offers a handful of waxing options (including a Betweeny, which removes most but not all of the hair), at reasonable prices. There's also a Bikini Ingrown Eliminator treatment available for $70, which removes any stray ingrown hairs trapped at the surface. Bonus: TONY awards them with the title of most painless wax. Strip: Ministry of Waxing

Strip: Ministry of Waxing started in Singapore, but has since brought its super hygienic and speedy services to Manhattan. (They were the first salon to introduce the No Double-Dipping policy for waxing.) See the full menu here, and to check out some of the post-wax care products available for purchase. [Photo]
