Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Last month, we gave you a whole bunch of places to shop for children's clothing across the city. But as anyone who has a kid—or knows someone who has one, or even knows what kids are—already realizes, they require more than just play-friendly garments. They actually need stuff to play with, and sometimes a place to play beyond their bedrooms.

So this time around, we've rounded up 17 stores that serve kids beyond fashion. We've included a wide range here, from toy shops to kid-centric bookstores and furniture stores. There's even a couple party-ready venues on this list. Check out our map after the jump and never order a present for your niece/nephew/neighbor/godchild online again.
