Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

We're finally at that stage of spring where you can leave the jacket at home and throw on a miniskirt without fear of goosebumps—but now maybe you're afraid of how pasty you look after this prolonged winter. You could pull out that bottle of lotion that claims to gradually build a faux glow with regular use...or, you could play it safe and leave it to the professionals.

Below, we've rounded up eight of the city's best spots to get a spray tan, including their price tag and whether they offer organic formulas. Excluded are places that still offer harmful tanning beds as an option, because not damaging your health sounds like a good idea to us.
