Urban dandy-adored designer Robert Geller debuted his very first store in Manhattan this weekend. The designer has settled into a temporary retail space shared by Lower East Side mainstay, Assembly New York. "Robert Geller in conjunction with Assembly New York have set up shop in a former Locksmith Shop in The Lower East Side, offering the new Robert Geller Spring 2010 collection as well as Assembly New York's in-house line," The Essential Man, a Tumblr from Peter, a Design Assistant of Geller's, says of the space. Doors opened yesterday to reveal pieces from Geller and Assembly New York's respective SS10 lines, as well as some items exclusive to the store.
In addition to Geller's paint splattered oxfords, tailored trousers and overcoats, and collared shirts with shrunken collars are "an exclusive set of candles made in collaboration with LAND. They come in an AM Scent (White Musk) and PM Scent (Cashmere) and retail for $45 each." With a GQ/CFDA men's wear designer of the year award (2009) as well as a collaboration with Levi's under his belt, Geller's temporary namesake store couldn't come too soon. As for what he'll follow up the pop-up shop with come April when it closes, we'll have to wait and see.
