Lindsey Thornburg's Sample Sale Is the Perfect Excuse to Add a Cape to Your Wardrobe

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

The only good part about the lingering days of winter is that it's the last chance to show off your really, really strong outerwear game for the next seven or so months. Make the most of those days by picking up a cloak from Lindsey Thornburg's sample sale, taking place this weekend at the Orchard Street store that just celebrated its one-year anniversary.

The local designer is promising us discounts on those cloaks, plus dresses and "other oddities," on Saturday and Sunday between 11am and 7pm. The last time we recall seeing her pieces at a sample sale — way back in the summer of 2014! — we found rompers for $45, linen crop tops for $50, and floor-sweeping dresses with velvet trim for $120.

While this sale will accept both credit cards, Thornburg says that she'll "give better deals" to those who pay in cash. Check out the Dealfeed below for more information on when you can stop by.
