We're reaching the crucial part of sale season, where the discounts just keep getting lower and lower. We stopped by Bergdorf Goodman yesterday afternoon to see what the department store's end-of-season sale had to offer, since it's now up to 75% off retail prices, and we're pleased to report that it's just as good as Barneys and Saks, and maybe even better when it comes to clothing.
Starting at 5F, you'll find contemporary designers like Rebecca Taylor, Milly, J Brand, Rag + Bone, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Alice + Olivia, Helmut Lang, and DVF packed onto several racks designated by discount: 40% off, 60% off, or 75% off. We spotted a mix of outerwear, knits, dresses, evening dresses, skirts, leather pants, and silk tops — see some of the best picks in the gallery above.
If you're sticking to just one category at this sale, make it the clothes. You'll have your pick of pieces, including a Helmut Lang fur halter ($169), a Derek Lam 10 Crosby dress ($199), an Acne Studios leather dress ($399), a DVF wrap dress ($189), a Rag & Bone sweater ($159), and a Milly dress ($269).
The sale's selection of handbags are just across from these racks. Here, we saw a 3.1 Phillip Lim Mini Pashli ($379), Clare Vivier clutches ($119), and a Carven handbag ($169).
There's a few areas where you can check out shoes, and one of them is on 5F right near the handbags. Quite honestly, this section isn't great — you'll find Alexander Wang sandals ($213.75), 3.1 Phillip Lim booties ($222.75), and Rag & Bone loafers ($267.75), but mostly, tons of boots. The real gems are on the second floor, but we'll get there.
Taking the escalator down to the fourth floor, we spotted a room full of Erdem (including a peplum top, $219), Lanvin, and Giambattista Valli (like a cardigan for $399). Continuing onto the third floor, we found Rick Owens, Peter Pilotto, Alexander McQueen, and Akris before deciding to check out the shoe salon on the second floor. What the fifth floor's shoe selection lacked in flash, the second floor more than made up for it.
We stepped around mother-daughter duos trying on shoes as we made our way to the sale section, where we found an impressive selection of Christian Louboutin (booties, $460), Prada (heels, $475), Maison Margiela (booties, $462.50), Valentino (booties, $687.50), and Miu Miu (crystal heels, $745). There are so many shoes to choose from in sizes 5 to 11.5, and everything is 50% off of what's on the price tag. Click through the gallery above to see our favorite styles.
