Joy Gryson's Leather Bags Start at Just $24 in Chelsea Market

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Brave the slush puddles to take a stroll down to Chelsea Market and check out the Joy Gryson sample sale, which kicked off yesterday morning. We popped by the sale earlier today to find plenty of Italian leather handbags at 70% off their retail prices.

We spotted some super-cool pieces before we even got through the front door. Along the front window was the IIIbeca by Joy Gryson Mini Moma bag with electric blue shearling ($39) and a slightly larger Moma bag in red with gray shearling ($57). Along the far wall were more leather bags, including a couple of printed totes ($90). One of our favorites was the Louvre Satchel with red printed calf hair ($114) — see the gallery for more styles and colors.

In the center of the sale space were a bunch of calfskin leather backpacks in five different colors ($120). The only color we didn't see was solid black, but we were informed that the all-black backpack will be coming back later today. On the same table were more styles from the IIIbeca collection, including a leather backpack with studded suede that came in gray and bubblegum ($60).

Along the back wall, there were plenty of crossbody styles in multiple colors ($105), plus the Molly clutch in black shearling and antiqued metallic (starting at $90).

The sale is running through Sunday at Chelsea Market and will continue at the Tribeca store through the end of next week. Sales associates told us that the 70% off discount would be honored at the store this week as well, where there are more colors and shapes to choose from.
