Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

New Yorkers who subscribe to AYR's newsletters got a happy surprise in their inboxes this morning. That's where the womenswear brand announced that it would be holding a one-day sample sale in its Chelsea offices, the same space where customers can make appointments for private shopping.

No further details were given about the merchandise selection, but we're expecting to see a similar selection to the site's final sale section, but hopefully with lower prices (and a few true samples thrown in for good measure). One important note is that this sale will only accept credit cards — cash is a no-go.

Hopefully this won't be the last sample sale for the brand, which is in the midst of some big changes: Last month, it was revealed that AYR would be splitting from parent company Bonobos and is planning to set up offices with a retail component further downtown. "We want to bring this brand together with its own four walls, literally and figuratively," Maggie Winter, who will be taking the title of founding CEO, said at the time.

Update: This sale is taking place on the fourth floor, not the third.
