Brookfield Place still has a few more months of being competition-free in the Financial District. The Westfield World Trade Center shopping center, located within the Oculus that's now confirmed to open during the first week of March, "anticipates an August grand opening if the Port Authority finishes required work, Andrew Tangel wrote in the Wall Street Journal yesterday afternoon.

The retail portion of the transportation hub, which will boast 125 stores, has been plagued with delays through the years, including water damage back in the fall. "August" is the closest that we've gotten to an official opening date thus far.

However, that doesn't mean that we won't see a few stores in this area beforehand. "Some retailers in 4 World Trade Center are expected to open in the spring," the paper continued. That supports the rumors that Eataly will be the first to open, and perhaps H&M will come after that.
