Ever wonder what happens to the merchandise that doesn't get scooped up at 260 Sample Sale's events, even with final-call discounts? They end up at the sale host's end-of-summer sale event, going on at 260 Fifth Avenue right now. We stopped by yesterday to find pieces from previous sample sales discounted even further, and though some items are dated or slightly damaged, there are great finds at ridiculously low prices—like $15 tops and $20 dresses—if you're willing to dig a little.
Velvet is one of the main brands featured here, so expect find tons and tons of its tee shirts and shirtdresses—stocked in every style, size, and color, they definitely dominate the racks. Tucked in between the endless sea of these soft baggy cotton styles are some cool dresses from Gant, like a form-fitting red number with stripes of small fringe for $20 (from $590), available in all sizes. We also found a two-toned dress with mesh panels from DKNY for $20, also available in multiple sizes.
If you're looking for jeans (and you're a size 25—28), there are plenty of styles and brands at super low prices. We liked Maison Scotch's white jeans with embroidered knees on a rack towards the back of the store—they were displayed in all sizes, among pairs of classic blue jeans and some pastel denim as well. Though the jeans displayed are from collections from a few years ago, a good pair of white or gray jeans, especially for only $20, is a great deal. We also found a single pair of black Barbara Bui jeans in a size 36 for $100; there are perhaps a few more Barbara Bui items dotted in the racks, though we did not find them.
For menswear, there was a huge selection of button-downs and tops, though not many sweaters. The shoe selection was a bit more impressive than the women's, and everything in both shoe sections is $20 per pair. There was a single rack of men's blazers, which seemed to have one of each for different styles, so it would really be up to chance to find a style you like in your size.
Though the host's website doesn't specify hours or an end date for this sale, you'd probably be good to go if you're stopping by between the hours of 11am and 6pm over the next week if you're looking for a dirt-cheap deal. Check out the gallery above for a look at our favorite pieces here.
