New York City's Floating Pool of the Future Already Has Its Own Swimsuit

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Here's what you need to know about +Pool, the zany little thing that'll float around the East River filtering river water for use in the pool itself: well, that's pretty much it. Oh, and that its support group Friends of +Pool have teamed up with Print All Over Me and the artist Mike Perry for a limited-edition run of men's and women's swimsuits. Like, super limited: There's only ten available of each style.

Your chances of grabbing one is also limited, too. The $250 suits will initially be available at Friends of +Pool's first fundraiser, where tickets are going for $150 each. After that, what's left will be available on POAM's website. But don't worry, proceeds of the sale go toward a good cause: Funding the pool's existence.
