Usually when you hear of a store's "moving sale," you cringe that it's a thin veil for its demise. Luckily, that's not the case with Printed Matter, the retail branch of the non-profit that educates the public about and sells artists' books: It's gearing up for a move a few blocks away within West Chelsea to 231 Eleventh Avenue later this summer, and appropriately kicking things off with a party.
Stop by on 195 Tenth Avenue on Thursday, July 9th between 5pm and 8pm to get a first crack at the selection, where most items are between 10% and 40% off (with a select few going higher than 50% off). There will be live music and gin, according to the Facebook invite.
If you're unable to make it this week, the sale will be running through July 31st—and who knows, discounts could get better in the later days. After that, Printed Matter will temporarily set up shop at the Carolina Nitsch Project Room at 534 West 22nd Street through the month of August.
