Summer 2015? Not quite. That's the projected opening "date" that H&M's new Herald Square store—its largest to date at 63,000 square feet, with plenty of space for shoes—has plastered across its facade, along with plenty of bikini-clad models. But according to WWD, the flagship at 1328 Broadway will open its doors at noon on May 20th, with the assistance of none other than singer John Legend.
In case you've forgotten, the Swedish retailer's 13th Manhattan location basically swallows its other recently-opened behemoths in Times Square and Fifth Avenue, which hover around 50,000 square feet each. And above Herald Square's 35-foot high glass facade, the rest of the exterior will be swathed in LED lights and custom screen displays.
If having another store to shop H&M's great home goods collection won't get you to the mid-week opening in the middle of the day, maybe the chance of chilling with John Legend will: 20 shoppers will be selected at random for a meet-and-greet with Chrissy Teigan's husband, who will also be performing that day. In case you're not so lucky, the first 1,000 customers on the scene will receive "Access to Fashion" vouchers worth anywhere between $10 and $1,000 in store credit.
