If you’re ready to toss that old, pilled string bikini this summer, you'll want to check out Brazilian swimwear brand Lenny Niemeyer's sample sale. We stopped by the preview yesterday, and it's stocked with bikinis in bold florals, bright prints, and understated solids, as well one-pieces and embellished styles. Here’s what you should know.
At 580 Broadway, take the elevator to the 10th floor and walk down the hall to 1011. Styles on the racks are all summer 2015 pieces. This season's samples (all size small) are closest to the windows, and come in sets for $80. Stock swimsuits are priced between $80 and $100 (originally $200 and up), or $40 to $50 per piece, so you can purchase two different sizes for top and bottom if necessary.
Some standouts: a white floral maillot sample ($80, was $203), a purple flower-print runway one-piece ($100, was $256), a blue ruched maillot ($100, was $205) and a dark blue bikini with ivory accents ($100, was $224).
Ready to wear clothing from this season is priced as marked. We noted a fern pattern tunic for $120 (was $286), a long black hibiscus-print dress for $185, and a white high-neck watercolor dress also for $185 (originally $430). All 2015 stock—suits and clothes alike—runs from XS to XL. There's back stock for almost every piece, and sales associates will be replenishing regularly. If you don’t see your size, just ask.
For the bigger price slashes, turn to the bins in the middle of the room and the boxes stacked on the shelves near the entrance. The bins and the first bookcase hold 2014 swimsuits (sets for $60) and samples (sets for $40), as well as 2014 clothing ($60). The second hallway bookcase is all about 2012 and 2013 pieces. Swimwear sets for both years are $30, and there's a bin with $15 separates.
Lenny Niemeyer shares a space with fancy sex toy brand Lelo, and there are some luxury vibrators on the sales floor for 50% off. Tack one on to your swimsuit purchase, because why not.
Customers who spend over $200 on Lenny Niemeyer merch will receive a mystery "special gift." The sale runs through Saturday, May 9th at 1pm, and all major credit cards are accepted.
