It's almost summertime, where anything is made better when it's a) outdoors and b) done with a cool drink in hand. And it the spirit of the season's easiness, Williamsburg juice shop Tiny Empire shares its best simple, superfood-packed smoothie recipes with us for a few key summer situations: when you're headed to the beach, when you've just wrapped up a tough outdoor workout, and when you've had just a little too much at a rooftop party.
General manager Gabi Murphy explains below how the ingredients in each of these superfood-packed recipes help out in each situation. Pull out the blender and turn on pulse, or stop by the North 6th Street store to have one of these made on the spot—and be on the lookout for their second location to open on Soho's Lafayette Street early next month.

To Pack for the Beach
Blend 3 kale leaves, 1/4 cup of coconut meat, and 12 ounces coconut water, plus spirulina and raw cacao to taste.
"This smoothie is great for the beach, as it's packed with body-loving superfoods. Cacao is full of antioxidants and minerals, some of which induce positive vibes—that's why cacao (or chocolate!) makes you happy and is considered an aphrodisiac. Feeling happy and sexy at the beach is key, right? That, plus a protein-packed dose of spirulina and electrolyte-filled hydrating coconut, will have you refreshed and energized for a full day of sun."

After a Long Workout
Blend 1/4 cup pineapple, one medium banana, and 12 ounces of hemp milk, plus ginger and mint to taste.
"What do you need after a good workout? Protein, carbs, and refreshment. Hemp is one of the few full vegan proteins found on this earth, and it's high in fiber so it will keep you full after a full-body activity. Using light-tasting but carb-heavy fruits after a workout is also key—that's where the pineapple and banana in this smoothie get to work. Lastly, you want it to be delicious, so throw in the mint and ginger for some serious flavor."

After a Long Night Out
Blend one medium banana, one date, two ounces of ginger, and two ounces of turmeric, plus chia seeds, hemp seeds, and hemp milk to taste.
"Alcohol is terrible for your body—but damn, it's fun. So after a long night out, thank your body for all that it does and put some good stuff back in it. Superfoods like hemp, ginger, and chia are full of trace minerals—those that are hard to find in a diet and hard to assimilate into the body, not to mentioned sucked out of your cells when you're imbibing. Plus, turmeric is an anti-inflammatory, which will balance (or even counteract) some of alcohol's effects. And you know that foggy hangover feeling? Hemp is full of fatty acids that help the brain bounce back and be the best it can be."
