We stopped by Yigal Azrouël’s sale when it opened this afternoon, and swamped doesn't even begin to describe it. Shoppers were dropping trou and trying on shirts, dresses and pants in the tiny showroom, while discarded samples piled up on the floor. This means that if your size isn't on the rack, it might be somewhere across the room. Amidst the chaos, there are excellent bargains to be found. Note: pricing is different for Yigal Azrouël and Cut25 items. Here's the lowdown:
When you walk in, directly to the left is a table with Yigal sweaters and knits, all for $175. We spotted a zip-up cardigan for 75% off (it was listed at $790), and a cardigan knit for over 55% off (was $390). Scarves are sitting nearby for $75 (originally $285).
The racks nearest to the registers are full of pants and outerwear. Leather pants are $375 (that’s 80% off from the original $1,990), and run from a 0 up to a size 10 or 12. All outerwear and leather jackets are $500. We saw a long wool coat (was $2,190) and a shearling jacket with leather trim (was $2,200). Most styles have a wide array of sizes (0-12), with the occasional one-off being a 0 or 2.
Yigal dresses are $275, gowns are $300, and Cut25 dresses are $125. Some of our picks: a black jersey gown (was $1,490), a floral Yigal gown (also was $1,490) and a Cut25 Georgette dress with leather (was $225). Cut25 tops are $65 (most were originally $275), and Yigal tops are $40 to $125, depending on the style. Tops range in size from 0 to 12, and there are a lot of 6's and 8's in the dress section. Styles with the most size options include a long-sleeve patchwork leather dress ($500, was $2,100) and a gray lace dress for $275 (was $1,390).
There are a few pieces in Yigal's signature eyelet, like a wool dress for $275 (was $1,590), a shearling and wool jacket with eyelet trim ($500), and a crop top for $125 (was $690).
True sample prices are $60 for Yigal, $40 for Cut25, and $125 for all leather items. Most pieces we saw were rather worn, but odds are you’ll find one or two that make the cut. All sales are final and it’s cash and credit only.
