Rebecca Minkoff's sample sale kicked off today at 260 Fifth Avenue, and the pouring rain didn't deter shoppers from lining up outside.

Once indoors, our first stop was the $50 sample section, where a variety of totes, clutches and cross-body bags lay on one table. A few of the styles appeared to be one-offs, or true samples. Of these, some were in good condition while most had a few scuffs here and there, but nothing to be too concerned about. Bags with bigger wounds were marked with yellow tape, so examine the samples carefully.

The regular bags are displayed in the center of the room on two long rows of tables, and most of them are protected with chiffon paper wrapped around Minkoff's signature hardware. The bags are organized by size, style and color. Wallets and smaller leather goods are stacked in plastic bins in the back of the room near the stairs. There is also one table near the back left corner with bags and wallets for men under the Ben Minkoff label.

All of the bags' sale prices are based on the original retail value, from $25 (originally $45—$85) up to $405 (originally $600+). In the bins, there's a pile of leather goods and accessories, including sunnies pouches, keychains and studded bracelets for $25. We also spotted a Kerry wristlet clutch with studs for $75 (originally $155) and a Sophie snap wallet for $55 (originally $95).

We were happy to see stylish leather backpacks and bucket bags in the mix. Some more styles of note: a Leo floral clutch for $55 (originally $99), a Mini Fiora bucket bag for $125 (originally $225) and a Mini Mab backpack for $135 (originally $250).

Speaking of Minis, we spotted a navy and white Mini Love cross-body bag for $125 (originally $225), a white Mini perry tote for $185 (originally $345), and Mini Macs in winter-mint and multi-floral for $125 (originally $195).

The clothes are priced as marked. T-shirts are $25, tops are $75, and pants, jeans, and jackets are $125. Shorts and skirts are $100 and all dresses are $150. We spotted a cute reversible black and floral Meg jacket for $125 and a Friday dress for $150.

All leather pieces including jackets and dresses are $200. A blush perforated moto jacket (originally $598) and a leather Liv dress (originally $698) both caught our eye.

Finally, sandals, sneakers, and flats are $50, while heels and boots are $100. Merchandise will likely be restocked, and, like in the past, markdowns are expected near end of the sale on Saturday. —Hsini
