"Sorry, we are closed." That's the only explanation it looks like we'll be getting from Civilianaire on why their East Houston Street store closed almost exactly two years after its debut, posted on a single sheet of paper inside the glass door. But we could also draw some conclusions for ourselves—as Bowery Boogie pointed out, the California-based denim brand has been holding a storewide 50% off sale for several months now.
But it's hard to imagine that the store suffered for lack of foot traffic, located just a couple blocks off from Soho's Broadway shopping strip. We'll place bets on a new entry to the NYC retail scene taking advantage of the location's not-as-crazy rents within the year.
