Creatures of Comfort's Sample Sale Has $20 Silk Dresses, $60 Shoes

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

The Creatures of Comfort blowout sale kicked off at 3pm this afternoon, and within less than 20 minutes shoppers were elbow-to-elbow.

The main attraction—or at least the one closest to the door—is the footwear section. All Repetto shoes (both loafers and ballet flats) are $60, clogs are $70, and Ancient Greek sandals are $80. Everything else is priced as marked. We did a quick sweep and saw purple metallic Robert Clergerie oxfords ($100), gray suede A Detacher sling-back booties ($140), grape Rachel Comey "Mars" ankle boots ($100), and a variety of MM6 combat styles. Sizes 6 through 10 are well-represented and there are loads of one-offs (like a pair of black glitter-dusted PAM x Diemme desert boots in a size 9). Don't forget to check the floor near the sole folding chair where shoppers are trying on shoes—the last time we looked, lots of great pairs had been abandoned there.

Onto the clothes! Creatures of Comfort sweaters are stashed in bins near the shoes and range from $90 cashmere crew-necks to ultra-chunky cropped styles for $204. The color palette is limited to white, cream, black, navy, and gray, and while the discounts aren't amazing, the knits are high-quality.

Creatures of Comfort's in-house line dominates the dress racks, with plenty of white jacquard "Cameron" styles ($94), loose chambray shirtdresses, oversized plaid designs, and—the biggest steals of the sale—patterned silk midi and button-down dresses for $20 and $22, respectively (see photos of both, in the gallery).

Tops skew wintery, with mixed denim Rachel Comey sweatshirts ($100), silk Creatures of Comfort button-downs ($71), and lots of boxy tweed designs. There's a small section of slouchy, white linen-blend Acne tees for $39 (down from $130), and a box of Creatures of Comfort Breton stripe tanks and sleeves maxi dresses for $15.

Pants are, for the most part, loudly patterned, with plenty of red plaid trousers from the in-house label—but there are some work-appropriate black options if you dig. Jeans-wise, oversized, distressed Isabel Marant styles around the $125 range dominate. Skirts are limited to flouncy summer styles, as well as windowpane-print minis from Apiece Apart ($96).

The outerwear rack holds Rachel Comey's "Kindred" jacket ($248, down from $830), as well as a few Band of Outsiders blazers, an ivory quilted Isabel Marant car coat trimmed in brown leather ($400), and some vintage styles—like an olive suede fringed jacket ($220).

There's a box of bags on the floor, and most aren't in good shape, save for a few Creatures of Comfort tie dye leather totes ($138, down from $690). Next to this is a bin of swimwear tops and bottoms in the $30 to $40 range. We spent a few minutes digging and couldn't find any matches, but perhaps you'll have better luck? The sale runs through Sunday, March 29th. See below for more info.
