Backpacks! Studs! Crucifixes? Inside MCM's New Soho Flagship

Entering the long-awaited MCM flagship store on Greene Street, which quietly opened its doors in the middle of January, is like entering a world of contrasts. In the same way that studs punk up the brand's iconic Cognac Visetos pattern on backpacks and purses, so does the collaboration with artist Stefan Strumbel add a rebellious streak with neon speech bubbles, crucifixes, and a cuckoo clock splashed across the otherwise black-and-white-adorned store.

Shoppers will find this collaboration on the left-hand side of the store when entering, with classic styles ranging from a cobalt blue tote to a baby pink miniature backpack on the right displayed on minimalist black shelves. A selection of all-black clothing, from a neoprene Strumbel sweatshirt to a heavy-duty moto leather jacket, are located just in front of the staircase.

Those in serious buying mode will want to head straight downstairs (or to just-relaunched website), where the biggest range of bags and small leather goods reside—and if you're VIP, there's a private room just for you, with four Visetos-covered leather chairs, a plush cream carpet over the original concrete floors, and skylights. Get a look at the brand-new store in the photos above.
