How to Properly Hobnob in London Like a Beauty Editor

Welcome to Beauty Diary: Seven days of getting glam with an industry insider. From publicists to professional makeup artists, this is a week in the life of someone who lives and breathes beauty.

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Work-cations can be fun, or they can be horrendously boring, but when you're a beauty editor, you can't let a little jetlag get in the way of looking the part. For this week's Beauty Diary, we asked senior beauty editor Amber Kallor to take us along on her trip to London for YSL's newest makeup launches—but not before partying with reigning eyebrow queen Cara Delevingne first.

Kallor, who started her career at Glamour and Shape says, "Not every week on the job entails a trip across the pond like this one, but I have to admit it's a pretty rad gig," adding, "One thing I can say about my current role is that I'm never bored. Ever."
