Whoa: The Row Is Opening an Upper East Side Flagship

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Everybody freak out! (Or smile in a tight-lipped sort of way while saying "prune.") Less than a year after opening their first-ever store in L.A., Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have announced their plans to bring The Row to New York City. The twins just signed a lease on a 1910 townhouse at 17 East 71st Street, which, according to WWD, they hope to renovate by the end of the year.

The Row's Melrose Place outpost is set up like a midcentury home, with clothing arranged around faux living and dining room setups, so it wouldn't be surprising if Mary-Kate and Ashley took a similar approach to laying out their Upper East Side flagship. Let's hope the brand's in-store 70% off sales also make the cross-country trip.
