For the men out there still looking for something to wear to this season's holiday parties, make a beeline to J.Crew's sample sale. We popped into 43 Wooster Street (that's the one specifically for menswear, since the women's and Madewell sales are elsewhere) last night to preview the discounted merchandise before it opened to the public this morning — and trust us, it's good.
After checking your coat, you'll find wool and cotton sweaters along the left side, arranged in size order (small to extra large) and priced at $35, as well as cashmere sweaters for $90. Across from the sweaters, in the center, you'll find a table with plastic bins full off denim ($40), boxers ($10), socks ($10), ties ($20), hats ($20), and weekend totes ($45).
But toward the back of the room is where you'll find the gems. On the left side of the room are racks and racks of casual outerwear — jackets, puffers, and vests — all priced between $60 and $90. As you head toward the right side of the room, where the occasion suiting is, you'll pass pajamas and sweatpants for $20 and $30, respectively.
Just like the rest of the sale, suiting is arranged according to size, with 34 and 36 being the most abundant for both trousers and blazers. We spotted blazers of all sorts (tweed, velvet, linen) with the vests to match. There are also plenty of wool overcoats ($150) and shoes ($100) to finish off the look.
In the center of the room are the shirting options, including polos, button-downs, and pullovers in a variety of colors and sizes. There is also a small selection of summer cotton shirts and tee-shirts.
At these prices, we're expecting merchandise to get snatched up quickly. It might be a gamble to wait for markdowns this time around and risk missing out on what's in your size, since it's unclear just how much restocking will be taking place. Check out the Dealfeed below for more details.
