As expected, you can't just walk into Barneys and grab your favorite pieces from Yeezy Season 1 while simultaneously blowing your rent budget for next month. The department store released a set of rules about shopping the collection that included securing wristbands last night if you wanted to buy anything from the line (even though only the Yeezy 950 boots are specified) and lining up as early as 8am to pick them up. Unfortunately, if you don't already have a wristband, you can't just get in line now to shop, security says.
Racked NY associate editor Channing Hargrove spotted this small crowd outside of the Madison Avenue flagship about a half hour after it was released in stores and online:
Those in line are directed to a separate entrance to shop the collection in small groups. The security detail we just spoke to in the store couldn't confirm how many wristbands were given out last night, and were unsure how much of the collection would be restocked throughout the day.
Downtown at Kith around 11:15am, shoppers who were lucky enough to receive raffle tickets were lined up behind barricades outside the store for the chance to shop Yeezy 950s first (remember, there's only footwear here). You can't even get into the store right now to shop anything else, even if you try sneaking in through Atrium next door.
And even though there won't be any restocking here, there is a glimmer of hope if you didn't grab a ticket: Security told Hargrove that people can come at 12:30pm to try and snag a pair of boots.
Finally, good news: Opening Ceremony is extremely chill. Hargrove got to the Soho store nearly an hour after it opened, and security reported only seeing ten or so shoppers lined up beforehand. Right around noon, just three people were in trying on the Yeezy 950s, and its full display of merchandise — both clothes and shoes — was pretty much in tact:
But while there's plenty to browse through right not, it's unclear how much of it will be replenished as shoppers come through — it might be in your best interest to stop by during a lunch break instead of after work.
