Will 2015 forever be known as the year when bunnies were banned and ferrets were welcomed with open arms? Hot on the heels of last month's city council vote to prohibit the sale of rabbits, a public hearing on Mayor de Blasio's proposal to lift the city's 1999 ban on ferrets is set to take place on January 21st. The repeal would remove the furry weasels from the official banned pet list, which also includes skunks, raccoons, walruses, tarantulas, lions, iguanas, "most farm animals," and sea mammals. Said one "weary" board member: "I'm trying to understand why this is something we would support. What's the upside?" [NY Times, Previously]
