Today, Gap Inc. announced that it would be closing the e-commerce website Piperlime by the end of April, and with it will go its sole brick-and-mortar store, located in Soho.
While there wasn't a reason given for the closure, our sister site explains, "It's obvious that the retailer hasn't seen much buzz or press in recent years. Its contemporary merchandise mix—brands like Frye, BCBG, Tibi, and Michael Kors—isn't cutting-edge or exclusive; shoppers can browse similar assortments at other e-commerce giants such as Nordstrom or Shopbop." On the plus side, be on the lookout for some serious going-out-of-business, C. Wonder-style markdowns in the coming months.
Update, 1/26: According to WWD, the Soho store will close "by the end of February."
