Band of Outsiders' Scott Sternberg had some criteria in mind for his New York City flagship: the store had to be big enough to house retail, wholesale, and a mini Milk Bar. And, judging by the brand's new Wooster Street space—which just opened this weekend—it looks like the designer's vision has been fulfilled, cookies and all.

The label gets pegged as preppy, but it's more specific than that. If Ralph Lauren is the Princeton-bound sailing club captain and Abercrombie is the humorless lacrosse bro, BoO is the slacker-y prep school kid who spends their summers lifeguarding at the local beach club. Evidence of Sternberg's signature undone-Americana style is everywhere in the retail space, from the rolling steamer trunks that serve as display cases, to the hackey sacks and lighters strewn about the men's section and the hangers printed with "hanger."

Behind the store's back wall is the Band of Outsiders showroom, where retailers can place their wholesale orders. (When we ducked back there during the opening party we spied Spring 2015 ladybug-print coats, palm tree dresses, and a take on the Birkenstock featuring grosgrain ribbon straps.) And, out front you'll find the storied Milk Bar window (opening soon), where, if your bank account says no to a new blanket coat, you can at least say yes to a cornflake-chocolate-chip-marshmallow cookie.
