The bi-annual Patrik Ervell sample sale started at 11am this morning and it's stocked with the largest selection of men's button-down shirts to date. We went to the friends and family preview yesterday and found that current season dress shirts are $90-$100, more than half off of original retail prices. The women's picks are mostly leftovers from last season's sample sale (with further markdowns), but the sweater section has been updated with new alpaca styles for $130 and chunky cable knit sweaters for $150.
Among the men's sweaters, there's a mustard yellow knit bomber jacket for $200 and a sleeveless style with nylon details for just $30. The best deals are on men's outerwear, with most designs under $400, including a fully waterproof raincoat with heat sealed seams for just $375. Navy blue wool bomber jackets with shearling collars are going for $230, wool fleece jackets are $295 and vests are $150.
Unisex accessories include on-trend baseball hats for $60 and alpaca knit beanies for $45. The men's $125 normcore jeans, available in light and medium washes, seemed popular among shoppers. Most men's styles are available in a range of sizes, but don't forget that Patrik Ervell runs small. Sprinkled among the men's shirts are short-sleeve button-downs for $80 and styles from past seasons for $60. We even saw a few one-of-a-kind runway pieces, like boiled wool sweatpants with nylon patch pockets.
Since Patrik Ervell no longer produces womenswear, the selection is small and made up mostly of silk button-down shirts for $116 and spring dresses for $220-$300. Outerwear includes wool peacoats for $264 and quilted bomber jackets for $281. Wide-leg cropped pants in a techy nylon fabric are only $72, while a pair of grey suede shorts is going for $100.
Boxes of shoes are stacked under the back table, and among them are men's Doc Martens and Red Wings from past season runway shows for just $65-$70. Although the sale is mostly stocked with menswear, women should stop by and browse the unisex sweaters and accessories. There is only one full-length mirror at the sale, with limited space to change.
