Update: On Friday afternoon, the sale host informed us that everything has been discounted an additional 20% off, and new styles have been added for the weekend. Our original sale report is below.

The Andrew Marc sample sale opened to the public this morning, but we stopped by Chelsea Market last night to preview the deals. The fact that all merchandise is at least half off is great and all, but, the best part of this sale can be described in one word: Coats.

Tags here are handily marked with the retail price, so you'll know exactly how much you're saving—and in many cases, it's quite a bit. All current fall 2014 merchandise is a flat 50% off (and still full-price in department stores), while clothing from spring 2014 or fall 2013 are 60% to 70% off—although we spotted a men's leather jacket for $299 that was once $1,195, a 75% off deal.

The sale is organized by style and not by season, so you'll find old and current merchandise next to each other—therefore, it's worth checking the prices on every item you like, as you might be surprised by the discrepancy.

Outerwear for both men and women take up at least half of the real estate at this sale, and are handily located right near the entrance. Styles range from leather jackets, both long and cropped ($249), leather vests ($99), wool coats ($249), men's and women's puffer down coats with fur trim ($249), trench coats ($149), and coats with real fur lapels ($699).

Other men's coat styles include leather for $299, wool for $199 and athletic cuts for $99.

Aside from outerwear, women's apparel includes silk tops ($97.50), fall mini skirts ($125), both tea-length and longer dresses ($197.50, though past-season styles are just $59, tees ($20), and patterned silk pants ($125).

Click though the gallery above to get a sense of what to expect—and be on the lookout for garments made in collaboration with 2010's CFDA menswear designer of the year Richard Chai, which were at once point exclusive to Saks Fifth Avenue.

For the petites out there, don't be discouraged by the seeming dearth of smaller sizes—a rep from the store confirms that there are nearly 4,000 items saved for restocking, most of which are XS through M.

No further markdowns are currently planned for the sale, though a salesperson did mention that the company could end up making last-minute price changes before the sale's end.
