Signage has just gone up at the former home of St. Marks Bookshop, advertising the retail space for lease. While the bookseller's move to East Third Street turned out to be no-so-tragic (the owners now pay $6,000 per month in rent, as opposed to $23,000), the fate of the old storefront looks bleak—EV Grieve predicts the business to take its place will be yet another bank branch.
