15 Single Earrings, Endless Mix-and-Match Combos

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

First came arm parties, then stacking rings, and now the next chapter in jewelry layering is upon us—earring clusters. The look works best when it's slightly asymmetrical—a cuff here, a stud there—which is why designers have started selling their earrings as singles. Resurrect those second and third holes from eighth grade with whisper-thin chain threads and delicate gold discs, or go bold with one sparkly front-to-back design (and a strategic deep side part). Check out our picks from Love Adorned, J. Crew, Broken English and more—all shoppable in NYC now—in the gallery.
