Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Exciting news for both locavores and design junkies: Good Thing, a Brooklyn-based indie manufacturer, will debut their minimalist products at the Kikkerland shop for the very first time, starting with a launch party tomorrow evening.
Lest you equate "locally produced" with "really expensive," Good Thing, founded this year, makes generally affordable goods, as all are super simple to produce and crafted by young New York designers. The Sticker Clock, made of just a vinyl sticker and standard clock parts, is $15.95; the Spiral Trivet three-part set (which act as table coasters) is $79.95, and the stainless steel Easy Mirror is $39.95.
Head over to the launch party (where there will be wine!) tomorrow night from 7pm to 9pm to see the collection firsthand.
