It seems like forever ago that what's currently occupied by the massive teaser signage at 711 Fifth Avenue was a Disney store, but the long-awaited, 35,000-square-foot Polo Ralph Lauren flagship store finally has an official opening date—August 28th. A tipster led us to a transcript of an earnings phone call where the date was revealed.
We already knew that store would be carrying the brand-new women's Polo line, which recently debuted at nearby locations in Short Hills and East Hampton. We also already knew that this store would include a restaurant.
What we didn't know is that the company is plunking down $25 million a year for rent at the prime location—which is probably less than what Microsoft might be paying for a similar space nearby.—Rebecca Jennings
