Pour one out for the Saks Fifth Avenue consolidation sale: the department store is ending its much-anticipated semi-annual event.

Twice a year, the smaller Saks outposts would send leftover inventory to the regional flagship stores, attracting massive crowds looking to score deals on designer labels like Proenza Schouler, Dolce & Gabbana, and Chloe. We'd noticed the selection at recent Saks consolidation sales was rather sparse, suggesting this plan was in the works for a while now, but take heart—Madison Avenue Spy reports that overstock items will now be channeled exclusively into SaksOff5th outlet stores, so you'll still be able to get your discount fix.—Mina Shaghaghi
