When J. Crew deems a neighborhood ready to accept their pea coats and boyfriend jeans, it's only a matter of time before Madewell sets up shop near its big sister. We've seen the scenario play out in Flatiron and on Madison Avenue, and now Williamsburg is set to experience the J. Crew-Madewell one-two punch, with the former opening on Wythe next month and the latter staking its claim on 126 North Sixth Street October 28th.
New York Magazine reports that Madewell will be taking over the space formerly occupied by Gentry, a menswear shop (previously known as H.W. Carter) that has since moved to South Fifth Street.
