Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Your choices for where to plié in New York City just got a little more flexible. Barre3 is coming to us all the way from Portland, Oregon, where founder Sadie Lincoln started her fitness empire that now boasts more than 70 studios nationwide, as well as a veritable treasure trove of online workout videos.

The "3" in its name has a double meaning—it represents the balance between a healthy body, clear mind, and a positive spirit; but it also details how you do the moves in each class: in isometric holds until your muscles shake, in one-inch lifts, and with the full range of motion that mimics how we move in our daily lives.

Get a taste—or several—of what Barre3 is about starting Monday, August 25th, when the studio opens its doors to the public with free classes up until Labor Day. Head to their website below to book your free session!
