Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Signage just went up outside Zara's soon-to-open 222 Broadway outpost, and if the scale of the billboards has anything to do with the size of the store underneath, this Zara is not messing around. It wants to be noticed, in a "Hello, new One World Trade Center employees. I see you staring at my shiny new display windows. Come, let me fill your ears with throbbing techno beats while you try on faux fur coats," sort of way.
