Broken English—the L.A. fine jewelry go-to for girls who prefer boulder opal pendants to princess-cut studs—just opened its first-ever New York shop, in the rear of Soho's AllSaints outpost. (Owner Laura Freedman and the British retailer's president are pals.)

Freedman, who inherited her love of all things sparkly from her Vegas showgirl mother, has stocked the space with a mix of contemporary pieces and vintage treasures—think Victorian cameos, whisper thin Xiao Wang stacking rings (pictured above), and Jacquie Aiche cuffs that combine diamonds with sharks' teeth.
