Lift an inch, lower an inch. Lift an inch, lower an inch. Are barre classes really that hard? Incredibly so, insists Physique 57 instructor Sherri Norige. "People think it's an easy class where you stretch a lot, but you have to be extremely strong of mind and body to make it through a Physique 57 class," she recently told us. The discipline she's projected to her students in all levels of classes during her six years in the fitness world has also helped in her second career—acting.
The Wagner college graduate studied theater and dance, which led her to roles in touring productions of "The Music Man" and "The Nutcracker." Ahead, find out what Norige would be doing if she wasn't in the barre studio or on stage, her favorite pump-up song, and the fitness advice that she swears by.

What's the biggest misconception about your sport?
People think you have to have been, or currently be, a dancer to do a barre class, but anyone can do it.
If you weren't a trainer, you'd be a...
I'm also an actor. But I'd either be a nutritionist, or a chef. I've actually looked into being a chef at the Natural Gourmet Institute. I also love Giada DeLaurentiis on the Food Network, and wouldn't mind being a chef on the Food Network!
What's always in your gym bag?
A reusable water bottle.
Food you'd do 50 burpees for?
Anything chocolate. I also love a good french fry.
