The Second No. 6 Sample Sale Has Designer Vintage, Clogs

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

The second half of the No. 6 Store sample sale began this afternoon, with loads of vintage gear and some picks from the brand's own line on offer for a steep discount. We stopped by shortly after it opened, and were relieved to find no line to get in, unlike last weekend.

This sale includes clothing, accessories, and shoes, and if you missed out on nabbing the brand's coveted clogs during the last sale, you're in luck—there are still tons available in all sizes.

Most of what is available at the sale is vintage, curated by the shop owners. There's a lot of clothing—mostly dresses—but, as is common with vintage shopping, you'll have to be ready to hunt in order to find something special.

Everything is priced as marked, and there are some really great steals. For tops, we found everything from $30 floral-print cotton blouses to Comme des Garçons embroidered cropped cardigans for $60.

There's a good deal of higher-end threads hidden among the racks, including silk Tahari blouses for$35 and an oversized Missoni sweater for $65.

Dresses range from super casual, like $30 floral cotton sundresses, to super luxe. There's a wool-and-silk chain strap Versace dress for $160, and handfuls of silky slip dresses at all different price points.

There are also several girlie finds from the label's own brand, including a button-down polka dot silk midi dress for $115. There isn't much in the way of bottoms at all—there's a few no-brand vintage leather skirts for $40. But most of the bottoms are from the No. 6 label, including silk tulip skirts and chiffon maxi skirts for $75.

A small selection of outerwear is available, such as suede blazers for $70 and leather overcoats for $65.

And the clogs! You'll find regular clogs for $125 and boot styles for $175 for the clog boots in several patterns and styles.

The rest of the shoes are vintage finds and are organized by size. Some highlights include a pair of mid-calf leather riding boots for $55, sparkly platform pumps for $60, and a pair of vintage YSL slingback kitten heels for just $40.

Bags and jewelry round out the rest of the sale. Leather clutches are $30, multi-strand shell necklaces are $20, and mini leather coin purses are $25. We also spotted one $110 mink hat, which—while a bit ridiculous very and PETA un-friendly—was also a really fun find.

The sale space does not include a fitting room, so if you're planning on trying on, dress accordingly. Merchandise will be restocked as the sale progresses. Keep an eye out for further markdowns on Sunday, the last day of the sale.—Gillian Fuller
