The Eugenia Kim sample sale is going on at the label's showroom in the Garment District right now. Here, you'll find straw, hemp, and felt hats from from the accessories designer's main collection and her diffusion line, Genie by Eugenia Kim, as well as a few hats from the Kid Kim collection.
Prices for fedoras and floppy straw toppers from as recently as spring 2014 start with a $5 miscellaneous straw hats and go up to $195 for big sun hats.
A few standouts include a straw Max hat with mixed chains for $135 and a large black and white Jodi sun hat for $195.
The Caterinas$95) and Leisl hats ($75) have also been popular here.
A couple of items from past fall collections are also laid out. Estelle rabbit fur collars and baby alpaca knit beanies are $75 and $85, respectively—which is less than what they went for during last winter's sample sale.
There are also hair accessories perfect for getting your Blair Waldorf on. We saw a pretty blue feathered headband for $35 (down from $165) and a Phoebe leather headband for $95 (previously $240). The Lotte, an ivory and lace headband fit for an indie bride, is $155, down from $515.
If your price point is a bit lower, a few hats from Genie by Eugenia Kim can be worth the trip. The Billie hat is $45 (from $88) and the Cecily is $50 (from $100). There are also some floral multi-colored turbans from the same line for $30.
The real score for discount shoppers is in the bins filled with miscellaneous sample hats, under the tables in the center of the room. Straw styles in here were going for for $5, $15, or $20 dollars.
We were there during lunch today, and a dozen women were shopping with us. Some of the styles had already sold out during the friends and family preview, but there's still plenty left to browse. Cash and credit cards are accepted—see the Dealfeed below for more details about the sale.—Hsini
