Welcome to Dress Code, a feature where we pick a New York event and ask three of our favorite shops to solve the what-do-I-even-wear-to-that dilemma.
A sneak peek at No. 6's outfit.
The holiday weekend is nearly upon us, and we're going to spend at least part of it on a rooftop, with a hot dog in one hand and a beer in the other—Tropical Storm Arthur be damned. That's why we rung up a few of our favorite shops—Brooklyn Fox, No. 6, and Violet Pepper—to style three slightly star-spangled looks. See (and shop!) their picks, below.
Where: Violet Pepper
What: Lucca Botanical Garden Babydoll Dress, $85; Kelsi Dagger Shaylah Platforms, $140; Boho Gypsy Leather Tote, $218; Saint Claire Ileana Necklace, $128
Why: "This flowy, floral dress is perfect for indulging in plenty of BBQ and beer," Violet Pepper owner Jade Elzien says of the look she styled for sales associate Kasia Cylc. Important: "the handmade leather tote is big enough to stow a six pack or two."
Where: Brooklyn Fox
What: Annabel Ingall Isabella Tote, $395; Linda Farrow Acetate Sunglasses, $670; Nadia Tarr V-Neck Maxi Dress, $352; Habitual Mattie Jacket, $238
Why: "We chose this dress because the jersey fabric dresses down what may otherwise be a sophisticated and sexy silhouette," owner Lexi Isadora says of store fox Elizabeth Thompson's outfit. "The placement of the stripes is extremely flattering. The red bag adds a fun pop of color, and the white denim jacket will keep you warm as evening hits and fireworks explode."
Where: No. 6 Store
What: Vladimir Karaleev Silk Top, $210; THVM Boyfriend Jeans in Light Denim, $213; Bleuforet Ribbed Socks in Rouge, $19; No.6 Criss Cross Clog on Platform in Tan/White Stars, $305 (made to order)
Why: "It's always a fun to give a slight nod to a holiday without looking like you're wearing a costume," store manager Mae Kaufman says. We couldn't agree more.
