Last night, we braved the rain and headed to the Erin Fetherston showroom for an early look at the label's sample sale, which officially starts this morning at 11am. The shopping space is fairly small, but packed to the brim with evening gowns, cocktail dresses, and a smattering of ready-to-wear and accessories, marked down up to 75% off. You'll also find a small selection of heavily discounted Cosabella lingerie, including slips ($60), bras ($30), and the brand's signature thongs for just $13.
Clothes are separated by category and size. There are two racks overflowing with evening gowns from current and past seasons. We felt that prices were really reasonable, especially for the fancier picks. Gowns start at $145 for simple strapless chiffon styles, and cap off at $275 for embellished dresses with some type of sleeve.
For the most part, there are several of each style and sizes range from 0-12. Some highlights include strapless gowns with a black and white graphic floral lace overlay for $165, halter sheaths with miniature beaded flowers on the bodice for $275, and one-shoulder drop-waist chiffon styles for $175.
Cocktail dresses make up most of the rest of the sale, and range in price from $135 for chiffon minis to $165 for embellished picks. As with the gowns, sizes range from 0 to 12 and there are tons of dresses to sort through in each size bracket.
Mixed in with the cocktail dresses are a handful of ready-to-wear pieces from both the Erin Fetherston line and an assortment of vintage from other labels. We saw a vintage Diane von Furstenburg silk tee with pleated sleeves for $35, Erin Fetherston ikat-print moto jackets ($45) and lip-print chiffon blouses with cutout sleeve details for $35.
As for accessories, there aren't many and from what we could tell, they're all vintage. Some major deals can be found here, though: we spotted a pair of size 40 blush pink Yves Saint Laurent platform sandals for $250 and Prada mid-calf leather boots for $325.
All in all, the sale is totally worth hiting up for the dresses. Note, however, that there is no fitting room and there won't be any restocking. There may be markdowns on Thursday, which is the last day of the sale.—Gillian Fuller
