With the grand opening of The Gorbals next week, Space Ninety 8 will be fully up and running. The restaurant inside the Urban Outfitters mega store will be serving Top Chef alum Ilan Hall's quirky dishes starting Tuesday, July 22nd, our sister site writes.
Hall talked about his food choices on the UO blog, including incorporating local, in-season produce from a farm near his Long Island hometown and using unexpected meat and fish choices.
"Some of it will be a little bit weird and maybe a bit challenging for people," Hall acknowledged, "but for the most part I want it to be tasty and really satisfying and for people to maybe eat things they haven't eaten before. As a chef you want to open people's eyes to new ingredients or things that are new to them."
And as for the store that's housing him? "I think my wife bought me some jeans!" he quipped. "The space is beautiful, they really did a great job."
