Bras, Thongs, and X-Rated Lingerie at the La Perla Sample Sale

The La Perla sample sale started up at 225 Fifth Avenue yesterday to a crowd of eager shoppers—some of which lined up two hours in advance. Inside the sale, we found an array of lingerie, swimwear, sleepover and ready-to-wear from the brand's Black Label and Studio lines for up to 80% off.

Most of the underwear is organized in bins by size, ranging from extra-small to large and from size 32 to 38, B to D. We didn't see any A cup bins. Shoppers were complaining about the digging, but seemed happy when they found something they liked. Panties, thongs, bras, and bodysuits start at $20 for Studio label. Thongs are $20 (or two for $34), culottes are $25 (or two for $42), and bras are $40 (or two for $68).

Black Label pieces are roughly double. Prices start at $45 for thongs (or two for $78), culottes are $50 (or two for $85), and bras are $80 (or two for $136). As you can see, it pays to buy more.

In the back near the cashiers, we spotted some Jean-Paul Gaultier x La Perla pieces, including a gold wire bra and a black lycra cage bra, both $80. Accessories—including black whips ($60 from $698) and garter belts ($30)—were going fast on Sunday. Price start at $20 for chokers and hosiery. Leather gloves and eye masks are $50.

Sleepwear includes babydolls, night gowns, pajamas, robes, and rompers. There are silky night gowns and pajamas in red, pink, peach, navy, black, and white. We also saw a rack of simple laced silk cami tops in turquoise, lavender, baby blue, and beige.

Other offerings include a variety of bodysuits with sexy cut-outs or wires that would turn up the heat in the bedroom. If you're more the conservative-type, we saw these silky slip-ons in red, aqua, black, and marine.

There's also some men's merchandise: Underwear are $10 and undershirts are $20. Lounge pants and tops are $30, swim shorts are $40, pajamas are $60, and robes are $80.There are a lot of soft white undershirts and bottoms available, but no robes.
