Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
UPPER EAST SIDE—One of New York's best consignment shops, Michael's Consignment, just got a whole shipment of Hermés bags in great condition. They're selling them for 30% to 50% off retail prices, so get your hands on one while they're still around.
UPPER EAST SIDE—Tomorrow marks the annual Museum Mile Festival, where Fifth Avenue between 82nd and 105th Streets is closed to cars and admission is free at nine museums along that route, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of the City of New York, and the Guggenheim. Stop by between 6pm and 9pm for a dose of culture, and check out their website for the full list of participants.
EVERYWHERE—The just-opened Urban Outfitters boasts a hair salon, and it's already headed out on the road to its sister stores. Hairroin Salon is going around the city—to the Soho store on the 12th, to Chelsea on the 19th, and Cobble Hill on the 26th—offering haircuts, extensions, blowouts, styling, braids, and men's grooming for under $35. Each location commences with a Thursday night kick-off party starting at 6pm—think DJs and free drinks—and services run through the weekend. While they accept walk-ins, it'd probably be best to book an appointment.
