The Horizons Vintage sale starts this afternoon and we stopped by last night to get the details on all the goods. In true Brooklyn style, this sale feels more like an artisan flea market than a crazed sample sale. Brooklyn-based designers including Lauren Manoogian, Erin Considine, Dusen Dusen and Carleen have taken over the Horizons Vintage store space to sell pieces from their own vintage collections along with discounted spring 2014 styles and supplies. The best deals were on vintage clothing and accessories with styles that felt relevant to wear now, with prices starting at just $4.
In the Lauren Manoogian corner, she had a table set up with treasures from her travels, including rustic pottery and textiles. We found a 14-foot-long blanket for just $45.
She was also selling her spring 2014 sweaters priced between $115 and $175, colorful scarves for $45, and a slew of utilitarian vintage clothing.
Erin Considine's jewelry was deeply discounted with indigo-dyed beaded necklaces for $65—$70 and tassel necklaces that could double as home decor for $150.
Baskets of her naturally dyed yarns were for sale, along with miscellaneous metal beads and supplies. She also had vintage sweaters and cotton dresses that she over-dyed in indigo, ranging in price from $45 to $90.
A colorful array of printed dresses and blouses from Dusen Dusen's spring 2013 and 2014 collections were available for less than $200 and are perfect to wear right now. They also had sunglasses to complete the look, along with graphic printed greeting cards—a set of 10 was $24.
We were excited to see hand-quilted pieces from Carleen, including baby blankets made from vintage fabrics and a sleeveless top for $195 from her début collection. She also offered pieces from her current spring collection—a metallic copper midi skirt priced at $328 was a standout piece, and the button-front white voile dress was only $185, marked down from $475.
If you are in the mood for unearthing vintage treasures, there is plenty waiting to be discovered here. Rows of shoes line the walls, and there's also four racks packed with clothes ranging from utilitarian denim jackets and cognac leather pants to eyelet dresses and printed jumpsuits.
With two fitting rooms and one large mirror in the main space, there won't be any issues trying things on. There is something for everyone at this sale, so be sure to stop by this weekend—check out the Dealfeed below for sale location and hours.
